If you’ve been shopping for a running coaching app this year, you’ve probably noticed the prices barely move from one app to the next. RunMotion Coach, Runna and Campus Coach all charge $19.99 a month, and their annual plans land between $119.99 and $139.99. Nike Run Club and Garmin Coach, two of the biggest names out there, cost nothing.
So the price tag alone won’t tell you much. What matters is how an app handles your training when it gets messy: a missed long run, a week off sick, a race that moves. Below is what the major running coaching apps cost in September 2026, followed by what a human coach charges, since that’s the number every app here is really priced against.
All prices in this article are in US dollars (USD) before tax. We checked them on each company’s website or US App Store listing on September 23, 2026. If you’re in Canada, the UK, Australia or elsewhere, your local price will be different, so check your own app store before you subscribe.

The four price tiers of running coaching apps
Most apps fall into one of four groups. Knowing which one you’re shopping in saves a lot of back and forth.
Free apps. Nike Run Club and Garmin Coach give you structured plans and audio-guided runs at no cost. The plans are generic or only lightly adaptive and there’s not much support, but they’ll get you to a first 5K or 10K.
Budget apps. Strava, Run With Hal and Runkeeper Go cost $39.99 to $79.99 a year. Strava is mainly a tracking and social app, while Run With Hal and Runkeeper Go add training plans that are simpler than the adaptive apps below.
Premium adaptive apps. This is where most runners end up looking, and where most of the new ideas are coming from. RunMotion Coach, Runna, Kotcha, Campus Coach and Coopah Pro all adjust your plan around the training you actually did, and they cost $79.99 to $139.99 a year.
Athlete and coach platforms. TrainingPeaks is built for runners who love data and for runners working with a human coach. If you have a coach, their fee comes on top.

What each running coaching app costs and what you get
RunMotion Coach
RunMotion Coach is built in the French Alps, has been the official coach of UTMB since 2021, and is trusted by more than a million runners. Premium is $19.99 a month, $49.99 a quarter (enough for a 12-week race build) or $119.99 a year, which works out to about $10 a month. The free version gives you a personalized training plan, and the 7-day trial unlocks all of Premium.
With Premium, your plan now adapts after every session you complete, a new update that means a missed run or a big workout changes what comes next. It also adds strength and conditioning, mental prep, nutrition tips and your speed at VO2max. Trail runners get dedicated plans that adjust to the distance and elevation gain of their goal race, plus a trail race day plan for the event itself.
Runna
Runna started in the UK, and Strava bought it in 2025. On its own it costs $19.99 a month or $119.99 a year, which Runna advertises as $9.99 a month. There’s also a Strava and Runna bundle for $149.99 a year. It’s annual only and sold through Strava rather than Runna, and new Strava users can try the bundle free for 30 days.
Runna builds plans from 5K to 50K, including custom distances, and pushes workouts to Garmin, Apple Watch, COROS, Suunto and Fitbit. The free version is limited, so the 7-day trial is the real way to test it.
Kotcha
Kotcha is the newest big name. The French startup launched on October 23, 2025 with Eliud Kipchoge as a co-founder, and Kilian Jornet joined in June 2026. It launched at $14.99 a month, but Kotcha doesn’t publish its prices outside the app. The US App Store currently lists monthly passes at $14.99 and $19.99, quarterly passes at $24.99 and $44.99, and yearly passes from $59.99 to $119.99, so what you pay depends on the offer the app shows you.
You get four AI coaches (a head coach, a physical trainer, a nutritionist and a data analyst), a week built around your actual training every Sunday, strength work in the plan, and race-day fueling powered by Maurten. There’s no free version, only a 7-day trial.
Campus Coach
Campus Coach is made by the team behind Running Addict and says its method has been used by 600,000 runners. On the US App Store it costs $19.99 a month or $139.99 a year, which works out to about $11.67 a month. Its 14-day trial is one of the longest in this group. The free version gives you a personalized program with default settings, and the app syncs with Garmin, Suunto, Coros and Strava. Campus covers both road and trail.
Coopah
Coopah is a UK app and the official training app of the TCS London Marathon. Coopah Pro costs $14.99 a month or $79.99 a year, which works out to about $6.67 a month and makes it the cheapest annual plan among the premium adaptive apps. It pairs adaptive plans with instant AI answers and support from real human coaches, and it offers your money back if you follow the plan and miss your goal. Coopah also sells a higher Coopah Coaching tier, priced inside the app. The standard trial is one week.
TrainingPeaks, Strava and the rest
TrainingPeaks Premium costs $19.95 a month, $49 a quarter or $134.99 a year, which works out to $11.25 a month on the annual plan. The annual price went up from $124.99 in April 2025. It’s the go-to platform for runners with a coach, but you pay for it separately from the coaching itself, and there’s a 14-day trial.
Strava’s subscription is $11.99 a month or $79.99 a year. It’s mostly a tracking and social app with some training analysis on top.
On a tighter budget, Run With Hal costs $6.99 a month or $59.99 a year with a 2-week trial, and Runkeeper Go costs $9.99 a month or $39.99 a year.

How to get the most out of what you pay
Pay annually if you have a race on the calendar. Switching to annual billing saves you more than anything else in this category. RunMotion Coach and Runna both drop from $19.99 a month to about $10. Campus Coach drops from $19.99 to about $11.67.
Training for one race? Look at quarterly plans. Most race builds run about 12 weeks. RunMotion Coach’s quarterly plan is $49.99 for three months, while three months of monthly billing on Runna or Campus Coach costs $59.97, and neither offers a quarterly option. Kotcha shows quarterly passes in its app too, at $24.99 or $44.99 depending on the offer. TrainingPeaks has a $49 quarterly plan, but that pays for the platform only, with no coaching included.
Actually use the trial. Campus Coach, TrainingPeaks and Run With Hal each give you 14 days. Skip a session on purpose or log a rough week and see what the app does with it. How a plan handles the bad weeks is what you’re really paying for.
Check the free version before the price. RunMotion Coach and Campus Coach both give you a real plan for free, while Runna, Kotcha and Coopah Pro don’t. If you’re not sure structured training will stick yet, starting free costs you nothing.
Only bundle if you already pay for Strava. Bought separately, Strava and Runna come to $199.98 a year, so the $149.99 bundle saves you about $50. If you don’t need Strava’s subscription, you’re paying $30 more than Runna on its own.
How much does a running coach cost? (human coaching reference)
Every app above is priced against one number: what a real coach charges. Rates vary a lot from coach to coach, so here are published prices from two well-known US coaching services.
McMillan Running personal coaching: $99, $199 or $399 a month, depending on which coach you pick.
McMillan Run Team: $39.99 a month for training plans plus access to coaches in a group setting.
TrainingPeaks personal coaching: $149 a month.
Hybrid coaching
Plenty of human coaches deliver their plans through TrainingPeaks, and having a coach doesn’t automatically get you Premium. A coach charging $150 a month plus TrainingPeaks Premium at $19.95 a month comes to about $170. An adaptive app rolls the platform and the coaching logic into one fee of $20 a month or less.
What drives a coach’s price
Experience, credentials and results set the rate. McMillan’s own tiers show how wide the spread is, with the top option costing four times the entry option for the same kind of one-on-one service.
The bottom line on running coaching app cost in 2026
A premium adaptive running app costs about $80 to $140 a year in 2026. Published one-on-one coaching from a service like McMillan starts at $99 a month and goes up to $399.

That gap is the whole reason AI coaching apps exist. Every app on this list costs less than a coach, so price shouldn’t be what decides it for you. Pick the one whose plan adapts best to your real training, then weigh whether a free version, a long trial or a human to message matters most to you.
If you want to try adaptive coaching before spending anything, build a free plan in RunMotion Coach and see how it fits your week.
