How Sébastien Broke 40 Minutes for 10K, With a Smarter Training Plan

Runner following a smarter 10K training plan to break 40 minutes in a road race.

Sébastien is the webmaster for the running club MAUVES ATTITUDES, based near Orléans in the Loiret region of France. During lockdown, he used the time to try the app and set himself a clear challenge, breaking 40 minutes for 10K. Sébastien is a true endurance sports fan, a former footballer who switched to running after knee surgery. He also launched the podcast A côté de mes pompes, where our co-founders Guillaume and Romain were guests.

How did your latest goal, running under 40 minutes for 10K, go?

After 4 weeks of training with the RUN MOTION COACH app, I hit my 10K time goal! I ran 10K in 39:27!

What motivates you to run?

With a busy work life (I’m a teacher and run a business at the same time), running is my best way to switch off and reset. And because I’m competitive by nature, I love setting challenges, pushing my limits, and chasing performance.

How did you discover the RunMotion Coach app?

I found the app through Bertrand’s Podcast Km42, where Guillaume introduced it. I’m curious by nature, and as a webmaster…

What do you like most about the app?

My favourite thing is how easy it is to adjust my week around my schedule, both family and work. I also like having structured workouts and a training plan tailored to my goal, rather than some generic plan you can find in any magazine. It feels personalised, practical, and focused on real progress.

What’s your next sporting challenge?

My next goal, at least in the short term, is to improve that 10K time and also my 5K PB. Then, if races are back on in autumn, I’d love to drop my half marathon time too, 1:28, set in 2017.

Congrats on breaking 40 minutes, and thanks for introducing the app to the runners in your club and to your podcast A côté de mes pompes. Good luck with your road running training as you chase your next goals!
