Louis runs the La Rochelle Marathon in less than 3 hours!

Louis has long chased after the ball. Tired, he wanted to discover a new sport. He then chose running. For RunMotion Coach, he looks back on his first Marathon, which he just completed: The La Rochelle Marathon.

Louis at the end of the La Rochelle Marathon

How did your Marathon in La Rochelle go?

My La Rochelle Marathon went very well! I aimed to finish around 3:05, in the end, I finished in 2:58. What a pleasure!
As the kilometers passed, I knew I was going to break the 3-hours mark. I felt like a robot: prepared, knowing my program, knowing the course; insensitive to fatigue (except for quad pain from the 36th km onwards); solely focused on my task, repeating step by step my pace, galvanized by the excitement of the start after 13 weeks of training!

How did you manage the preparation for the La Rochelle Marathon?

I went for a 13-week preparation with 4 to 6 runs per week. My weekly volume ranged from 60 to 80km. I often feared feeling discomfort or even getting injured (past experiences with common issues like ITBS). But none of that! No doubt, no injury. No injury, no doubt. Optimal shape!

What motivates you to run?

On the road, my motivation is performance and pushing my limits (like sub-3h for the Marathon, for example). In trail running, it’s the childish pleasure of running in nature, traversing trails, gradients (and mud if possible!).

An anecdote to share with us?

Running just to run wasn’t for me. At least, that’s what I thought because the pleasure never leaves me and multiplies with each run. However, I know nothing about it. I try, I wander, I do, and maybe anything, but I love it. I seek information to learn about running (stride, techniques, shoes, paces…). It’s with RunMotion Coach that I truly discovered running and the pleasure of performance!

How did you come to know about the RunMotion Coach app?

I have been using RunMotion Coach for a very long time, especially for its pace calculator.

What encouraged you to download and test the app?

I tried two other “apps”. I was disappointed each time. Either due to lack of flexibility. Or due to lack of effort (I felt like I wasn’t working). Or both.

I discovered RunMotion Coach and the coaching aspect through:
– the pace calculator, which I finally read
– thanks to my partner

She gave it to me as a gift after looking into the product… and she did well! Note: she also got a subscription. And she succeeded in her first two races with the App 💪🏻

What do you like most about the app?

I like RunMotion Coach because it’s:
– An app
– Flexibility: a RunMotion Coach preparation adapts to a runner (!) whether it’s the preparation duration, motivation (performance, weight…) and coaching possibilities
– Performance: I felt like I was working from the very first week
– Exports to the watch (and Garmin)
– Knowledge capsules on nutrition, race management, etc.

In short, EVERYTHING! 🔥

After the La Rochelle Marathon, what is your next sports challenge?

After the La Rochelle Marathon, my next sports challenge will be to set a record on the Paris half marathon. The goal I’ve set for myself: 1:23.

Congratulations Louis, a first Marathon in less than 3 hours, you can be proud of yourself! 👏
