How did your New York Marathon go?
My goal was to achieve a personal best for this incomparable event (I didn’t think it would be that much!). My RunMotion Coach preparation with a target of 3h30 seemed consistent with my abilities and my previous times (I ran 3 Paris marathons between 3h48 and 4h00). A few days before the race, I asked myself the question: enjoy or perform? I was afraid of being too focused and ending up in my own bubble.
In reality, I managed to do both! I felt such a surge of adrenaline and energy during the first 25 km thanks to the cheers, a real communion with the audience. Then, I found my pace exactly as planned, at 5:00/km.
I’ll share a little anecdote: my wife and daughter were supposed to cheer me on towards the end of the race. By chance, I ran into my daughter at the 15th km, as she was coming out of her Airbnb. I wouldn’t have heard her because of the noise and hustle around, but it was a touching moment, in the middle of the faces, the other runners, and the excitement of the event.
How did you manage the preparation for the New York Marathon?
Regarding my preparation for the New York Marathon on the app, I was following a training plan of 5 sessions per week. In fact, I intend to keep this same pace that you ‘imposed’ on me.
What motivates you to run?
What motivates me to run is above all a set of reasons: my health and physical fitness, surpassing myself (whether to improve my performance, my running technique, etc.), and the pleasure I find in the events I participate in throughout the year.
What do you prefer in the application?
Your application is very clear and full of personalized tips. I like everything, I don’t have a preference!
After the New York Marathon, what is your next sporting challenge?
After the New York Marathon, my next challenge will be the Hoka Paris Centre 10k. This year, I tried long-distance trail running with a 60 km route, and in 2025, I’m taking on an even greater challenge: 100 km at the Ultra Marin, as well as the Lisbon marathon. A second major marathon could be on the agenda in 2026 (maybe in London!).
